My child does not need any enrichment courses because he/she has learnt how to read through flashcard training or learning by rote. Flashcards can be a useful learning tool to help your child improve memory through repetition. Although your child may be able to read the words on the flashcards, it does not necessarily mean he/she understands the meaning of the word due to absence of context. This only sets up a potential roadblock in his/her ability to write later on.

My child has learnt phonics, which is sufficient for him/her to be able to read well. Reading and writing are not the most important skills my child needs, as there are also other academic subjects that are just as important. In fact, building a strong literacy rate in your child is one of the most essential skills that will determine his/her overall academic success, as well as life in general. Besides English language, other subjects like Mathematics and Science also require skilled ability in reading, comprehending and writing to score well in exams.
